Dad visited her everyday and stayed from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM. He would often crawl into her bed and rub her head and tell her how much he loved her. He stood by her side as her spirit ascended to heaven.

A few days later, my Dad came in from work with a new catcher’s mitt and a catcher’s mask. We began to play catch several days a week. Eventually he hung a tire from a tree and put a canvas behind it. He told me to practice throwing the ball through the tire every day.

Why do we not think about heaven nor sing about heaven until we attend a funeral? The reason that “I Can Only Imagine” became a mega-hit and crossed over as a secular hit is that it temporarily lifted our eyes and minds to think and imagine beyond the cares and toils of life.
