I was in church today and a girl stood up front and spoke. I honestly couldn’t tell you what she said, because as she was speaking, her words created an image in my head.
As I was listening, this is what God revealed to me.
Imagine yourself jumping off of a cliff. Not too terribly high, but high enough to be intimidating. Down below, it’s blue water and a lagoon. Back arched, legs and toes pointed straight, and arms reaching long, the water approaches quickly.
As soon as you hit the water, it’s the point of salvation. All of the courage and faith it took to jump off of the cliff ultimately led to the water. As you’re body is submerged, there’s a voice calling that says “just go deeper.”
Think for a minute WHY God calls us to go deeper…
So you’ve been saved and accepted Christ…You took the dive and maybe came right back up to the top for air. What does that look like to God? To me, if you’re body is coming back out of the water, it’s almost like saying “ok God, you can have most of me, but not all of me.” I think when we finally accept Christ, He calls to have even MORE faith than it took to jump off of the cliff.
He says “go deeper and search for my heart.” As much as you think you might run out of air, having the faith to reach the bottom is where He tests us. “Do I go back to the top and keep living this half life, or do I REALLY commit to the life I chose?”
So why DOES God always call to push deeper in our faith and salvation?
I think it’s because God truly wants to know us. He wants to see that we have so much faith and trust in Him that we put our lives in His hands. God wants to be so close to you that there is no separation between His heart and yours. He wants so badly for you to stop relying on your own understanding and just trust Him…
How frustrating is it when someone you love with everything you have won’t see the mistakes they’re making? How heart wrenching is it to watch someone try and live their life on their own? How much does it hurt to see someone you care for just ignore the love you so blatantly put before them?…
This is how I think God feels when we don’t trust Him. Instead of diving even further when He says “just let go, I will be your breath,” we say “no.” We say, “I CAN DO THIS MYSELF.”…
Just let go…stop trying to pretend like you have your life in order. Stop trying so hard to make everyone think that you know what you’re doing. Let go, and let God have the reigns for a while. Go ahead, I dare you. Test Him. Pray for anything. Go do it, right now. Stop waiting, GO PRAY. Pray with all of your faith and heart for whatever you need spiritually, physically, emotionally. If you pray in FAITH, He WILL provide…see what happens.
God has such a deeper love for you than you can ever comprehend. We all have brokenness, and we all have struggles…just once, let Him take care of it and stay under water just a lllittle bit longer. Sometimes, it feels like you’re under water and you can see the surface just feet away, but I’m begging you…..don’t give in to your old life. Let God reveal to you the love and life He has for you.
He loves you.
