I met Everton Heron several months ago through a Christian business group. He made an immediate positive impression on me and is quickly becoming a solid spiritual influence in my life. One of the interesting things about Everton is that he has a strong business technology background and yet he is working with a Bible Product, basically made of wood. He said it wasn’t what he expected to be doing as part of his company either, but God had other plans.

Transparent: Tell me about your business Intelligent Minds.
Everton: Intelligent Minds is a company built to create and distribute Biblical – Educational Products to the marketplace. The first being the Bible Bookcase.

Transparent:Tell me about that.
Everton: Well, the Bible Bookcase was designed from the heart of a Sunday school teacher, and it’s a simple and exciting way to learn the books of the Bible. It’s a perfect tool for:
• Kids and Grandkids ( of all ages )
• Social/Christian Fellowship Gatherings
• Sunday School Classes
• Christian and Home School Settings
• Public or Private Libraries

I tell my customers it’s a 3 step process!

Step 1: Dump all puzzle-like books from The Bible Bookcase
Step 2: Scramble the books.
Step 3: Place them back in The Bible Bookcase!

Learning all sixty-six books of the Bible in sequential order becomes fun and easy! Through practice and repetition, a child will learn all 66 books of the Old and New Testament in order.

Transparent: How has it been received so far?
Everton: It has been received great.  Everyone that I talk to seems to get it; It has been interesting to see how many people don’t know the books of the bible (laughs).

Transparent: I don’t think I could get through it the first or second time!   When did you know it was a ‘success’ or had the potential to make a difference?
Everton: When I started to meet with people and showing it at shows; everyone kept saying this is “going to be huge.”  I would notice kids would come up to it, dump it out and spend time putting it back together.  What was going through my mind was the fact that these kids, at least for 30 minutes or so, weren’t playing with a hand held gaming device!

Transparent: Speaking of that… I know a little about your background and your exposure to technology.   The Bookcase seems like an odd puzzle piece.   How did it even come about?
Everton: It was a call from God…. I was out in LA and met the inventor who just-so-happened  to live in Knoxville.  After a week of talking to him and having some lunches and dinners (where we talked about everything else besides the product)  I felt God saying I needed to help him get his business launched and get this product in the hands of children.After arguing with God for a few, I walk over to him and said “ I don’t know what I can do but I believe God wants me to help you with this.  All I have is my Rolodex.”

Transparent: What’s next for Intelligent Minds?
Everton: I believe we are here to bring more products to market.  We have several additional versions of The Bible Bookcase and we have some more products in mind.

Transparent: How is God blowing your mind lately?
Everton: Every day my father surprises me.  The Connection he brings, the word he speaks – the life he has giving me… I’m learning more and more to trust him without barriers.  He has giving me everything I ever wanted and more.  He just recently gave me a worldwide distribution partner in a Lifeway parking lot. Gotta Love it!!!

Transparent: What would someone be surprised to know about you?
Everton: That I was just “Saved” in 2005… I always knew “the church”,  and my mom is one of God’s foot soldiers but I had to know him for myself.

Transparent: We met through the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce.  How has that organization benefited you and your business?
Everton: It has benefited me a great deal.  I have met a lot of great people.  Probably less from a business perspective and more from a heart perspective.
