She was an unemployed charity worker, the youngest of nine children and never been kissed. Susan Boyle has become a world-wide brand with over 30 million hits on YouTube. Simon Cowell believes she will become the biggest star he has ever discovered.
All of us made the same judgment as the judges and audience on Britain’s Got Talent. We immediately judged her on appearance. She was not attractive and had nothing to contribute.
At the age of 12 Thomas Edison developed such severe hearing loss that his teachers recommended he be taken out of school. He became labeled a “slow learner”. Edison used his handicap to drown out distractions and focus on his work. As a result, the “slow learner gave the world over 1,000 inventions, including the light bulb, the phonograph, and the motion camera.
Helen Keller was labeled “deaf and dumb” and classified as an idiot. Her parents hired a personal tutor who taught her to read and write using Braille. She graduated with honors from Radcliffe College and was paid an annual income by Andrew Carnegie. Mark Twain and Robert Louis Stevenson praised her writing. She was invited to the White House by every President during her life time.
When asked if there was anything worse than being blind, Keller said, “Yes, having sight but no vision.”
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
Isn’t it amazing that our opinions are based on “sight of appearance”, and yet we have no vision!

Well done and so true. We do judge others for the wrong reasons. I find that I would better use my time to love my neighbor rather than deciding if he or she is good or bad. Not my business.
Better to see (or at least try to see) Christ in everyone. Easier said than done, perhaps, but still a goal darn worth pursuing. JRI

Susan Boyle is an exceptionally talented lady who’s been subjected to considerable ridicule in the media. IMHO she deserves every bit of success that she is having.
