Transparent: Man, that IS a crazy story. Mike: Well the story does go a little deeper. After we first started discussing this with the webmaster (Jerry) he put us on his Myspace friends page. Well, what I mean is that he put us on his top ten Myspace Friends. He has hundreds of "porn star" friends, who started sending us friend requests....so, after some debate, we accepted them. Then some amazing messages started arriving! I think we have a dozen or so messages from different porn actresses telling us how much a certain song or songs had ministered to or spoke to them.

Take the time to study the craft, to study the architecture and weight of a line. Actually read what you are about to post before posting it. Say it out loud. Get your ear involved. Get in the habit of rewriting, that is, going over a piece of text until it shines, until all the lumps are gone. Read great writers. There are many of them still out there, both Christian and non-Christian. There are bad writers out there as well, and their numbers are increasing. But they have something to teach us too, even if it is simply what not to do.

I’m a concertina Jedi. The Force is obviously strong in me. The I-wanna-be-a-teacher-when-I-grow-up comes out. “Okay,” I say, “try holding that button down and moving the bellows in and out. It shouldn’t make a sound, because it’s the air-only key.

It has been said that Marines are taught to dig a foxhole big enough for a friend. When the battle becomes fierce, “two are better than one”! Life is difficult as it is, but becomes nearly impossible if you do not have someone in your foxhole.

I have heard music from Mike Westendorf before, but I have to say this is his best cd yet! Mike redoes one of his earlier hits, “Run Boy Run” and it sounds fresh and relevant! Keith Mohr at Indieheaven sounds great on keys and does a great job of engineering this cd!

A piano bench, I hadn't noticed before... a beautiful, black, worn and very used piano bench. As I watched, man after man, woman after woman and artist after artist, ignored the bench and gazed upon the walls. They pointed, squinted, cringed, cocked their heads, laughed and looked both confused and pleased... I watched them, as they became animated accessories to the bench.

Me: (Smiling) “Umm… I think you might be crazy. Sarah is our friend, married and I’m certainly not the kind of guy she’d be into anyway. Have you noticed that carloads of beautiful women haven’t been beating down our door lately to steal me away from you?!” (Snicker)

Days later a storm lashed the town and those within sight of Oyster Creek Road witnessed something amazing. The church building—still intact—was afloat! The flood had lifted it off its pilings and sent it down the road.

So this past weekend, I started. It was hot, I was sweaty, and could only pull off a couple hours at a time, but slowly I went about dismantling this monstrosity. I saw rot all over the place, and spent a good deal of time copying entire pieces as replacements for those pieces that were too far gone. I wound up replacing almost half of the wood in that bench.
