I was reconciling my bank statement and found six “surprises”. These were transactions charged to my debit card that I did not know about. My identity has been stolen!
To make matters worse, the charges were made for membership to porn sites.
The thing that really disturbed me was that my grandson’s name was used as a password.
After hours on the phone, reporting the case to the local police department and signing an affidavit with my bank, I’m waiting for a detective to find the culprit.
The emotion of this event reminds me of the fact that most of us live with a stolen identity. We allow the “culprit” of our souls to constantly steal our identity. We buy in to his whispers that God has abandoned us, we are worthless, we are still guilty of sins that we have repented, and hundreds of other lies.
We lose sight of the fact that we are “saints who have the capacity to sin but are longing to overcome it”! We forget that we are “co-heirs of Christ”, “child of the King” and a “royal priesthood”.
Most of us see ourselves as worthless sinners who are obligated to the sinful nature even though it has been exchanged for a “divine nature”. As Paul said, our problem is the war between our minds and bodies NOT our nature!
Some of us act like chickens scratching in the dirt instead of acting like eagles, which soar against the wind. God’s Word says we are to be like eagles-the stronger the wind-the higher we soar!
Now that we know who the culprit is, let’s become Olympic believers and “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God which is in Christ Jesus!” Phi 3:13-14 A gold medal pales in comparison to the “crown of righteosuness”.

Wow… Mike, this reminds me of the story mechele told:
http://www.transparentchristianmagazine.com/2008/08/12/are-you-a-cliche/
And also of my own…
We get caught up in trying to find out WHO did WHAT to us and WHY, that we forget that these too are creations of God, and they are in need of our prayer, first.
Excellent story, powerful lesson! Thank you for sharing it!
