They worked in mundane vocations. They were considered “ignorant ignoramuses” by the religious community. Their past was extremely questionable. They were prone to mistakes, misstatements, and egotistical remarks. They argued over who would be the greatest.
You would not have hired any one of them, nor would you choose to hang out with them.
When Jesus was performing miracles, they were giving each other “high fives” and chest bumping. When the soldiers came to arrest Him, they fled in terror!
Jesus did not ask for resumes or do background checks. He simply chose those twelve men, knowing everything about them! He chose them to take responsibility for His Kingdom, and He did not have a “Plan B”!
Nothing has changed.
He continues to look for ordinary people in mundane vocations who may be considered ignorant ignoramuses by their colleagues and supervisors. He invites people with a lot of baggage to his process of transformation and gives them Kingdom assignments.
Your resume may be lacking and a background check would be embarrassing. However, you are invited to be transformed and become part of the greatest vocation in human history-spreading the Good News of His Kingdom!
Your colleagues, friends, and family may not think much of “going to church”, but everyone wants to be part of a Kingdom where ordinary folks do extraordinary things by His power!
You are chosen, and there is no “Plan B”!
Mike
