Rick Burgess is co-host of “The Rick and Bubba Show” on WLAC 1510 AM. Back in January of this year, his two-year-old son slipped out of the house and fell into their pool and drowned!

Rick and his wife are Godly people and even had their pool dedicated to “the glory of God” when it was built. They had dreams of having Sunday School classes and the youth group from their church over to hang out in the pool. The death of a child- was not in the plan!

Fortunately, they had recently purchased a small farm house and decided to move there for a few weeks, as they could not bear being at home and seeing the pool.

Eventually they began the conversation of moving back home. Then the waves of pain began to come again.

Their older son recently placed his faith in Jesus Christ and the subject of baptism came up. Someone suggested that the son be baptized in “the pool” to redeem it! That is exactly what happened!

Not only has God been glorified with the pool through the baptism, Rick delivered the eulogy for his son and thousands have downloaded it from www.rickandbubba.com. Rick has also been asked to speak at numerous churches to share “what was intended for harm, God intended for good” (Genesis 50:20). When you hear Rick speak or listen to his euology, you will have no doubt.

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers[a] in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[b] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Rom 8:26-28 .

God has been glorified with the pool!
