“Change” is the core component of an election year. Barack Obama tells us we need “change we can believe in”.
Human nature loves the concept of change from the outside in. In the early 1930’s Germans decided they needed change and followed the “change platform” of Adolf Hitler.
I am not comparing Adolf Hitler to any of our candidates. However, human nature has not changed at all. We prefer to look to external forces for change as opposed to self examination.
Our consumer debt is increasing at $2000.00 per second. Our government is in process of offering an “economic stimulus” by extending $150 billion in tax refunds. The irony is that the government is spending money that it does not have to assist folks who bought homes they could not afford and to consumers who have an average of nine credit cards.
We do need change we can believe in!
T.D. Jakes made a last minute appearance at a Promise Keepers event and was given two minutes to speak. He said,
“If a nation has a problem, the states have a problem. If the states have a problem, the counties have a problem. If the counties have a problem, the cities have a problem. If the cities have a problem, the churches have a problem. If the churches have a problem, the problem is you and me!”
Change we can believe in only occurs from the inside out. God’s Word says, “If my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health.” II Chronicles 7:14-15 The Message
Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
Change my heart oh GodMake it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
You are the potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray
Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You

I am grateful and thankful in Jesus Christ for these words of mercy, hope, love and encouragement. It is simpler to start with this problem, me, than take on the whole world.
